The first time you run VIPRE, you will need to adjust your Mac's Security Preferences to ensure the VIPRE system extension is allowed to load properly.

How to allow VIPRE system extension in macOS
When you first run VIPRE, you may experience one of the following issues:

To resolve these issues, users running macOS High Sierra (10.13) or later will need to ensure macOS is not blocking VIPRE from loading. Proceed with the steps below to enable macOS to successfully load the VIPRE system extension.
Steps to allow VIPRE system extension in macOS

Administrator privileges are required to perform these steps. Your system will need to be restarted after completing these steps.
- In the top left corner of the screen, choose Apple menu > System Preferences
- Click Security & Privacy, then click General
- Click lock (to make changes) and enter administrator credentials for User Name and Password, and then click Unlock
- At the bottom of the Security & Privacy screen, you should see a message about software being blocked. Depending on which message is displayed, there are slightly different steps to follow. See the table below for the next steps.

Having two or more antivirus running on your computer at the same time causes a conflict and can slowdown or crash your computer. If VIPRE installation process is unable to automatically uninstall other antivirus program, below are instructions for removing any other antivirus program through Windows and through the appropriate program's removal tool.
Uninstalling a program through Windows

- Windows XP - Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
- Windows Vista/7 - Click Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features.
- Windows 8 - From the Start Menu (Tiles Screen), type 'Control' and a search will come up as you are typing. Click the Control Panel option, then Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features.
- Windows 10 - From the search bar on the bottom left of the screen, type 'Control' and a search will come up as you are typing. Click the Control Panel option, then Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features.
Once you have this window open, locate the application you with to remove and highlight it. Now click Remove or Uninstall.
If uninstalling of any antivirus program is unsuccessful, you may need to use the removal tool that is provided by the antivirus program's manufacturer. A list of removal tools have been provided below.
